Software teams can be wrong cheaply and correct next sprint. Manufacturing cannot. Do you need to understand our process to facilitate?
Enough to design a credible agenda and use your terminology correctly, not enough to have a view on your process. Your engineers hold that. Overstating technical fluency in a plant room is noticed immediately.
How do you get honest input from the floor?

Can you work around our production schedule?

We have several plants that do things differently. Can you align them?
That is one of the more common reasons manufacturers call. The work is usually less about choosing one plant's method and more about agreeing which differences are genuine local adaptation and which are drift nobody decided on.
